To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1113 Kingsbury, June 23rd.1937 4 1/4 BENTLEY - B.14.HK.{Col. T. Harker - Sales} Mileage 11,642. No.2. Connecting Rod failure. This car has been brought in today with No.2. conn. rod bearing metal completely broken up. The engine must have been run for a considerable time after the failure as the top and bottom of the bearing housing was scored. The piston which one cannot observe damage had been just hitting the top of the cylinder head. All the remaining conn. rod bearings were slack in the housing, otherwise in a good condition. The crankshaft bearings have not yet been examined. I will report upon them tomorrow. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} | ||
