R.R. 235a (500 T) (S.D. 408. 26-4-17.) Bm. 2/158/13. Bn{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington}18/W4220 Contd.- 2. writing it. We have not very much hope of preparing an Appen- dix in a way which is useful, which covers the ground, and at the same time does not give one the impression that the install- ation is complicated. With regard to your question as to how many cars this description will refer to before the R.R. arrangement is adopt- ed{J. L. Edwards}, we cannot say very definitely, as this will depend on wheth- er modifications to the scheme at present in the Experimental Dept. are found to be necessary, but we think it is certain that 1500 cars will be built in accordance with the present standard arrangement. ( The smaller diameter Glover's Cable comes in at the 601st. Chassis but the Appendix will not be altered for this). The descriptions and instructions con- tained in this Appendix render unnecessary some of the descript- ions in the present instruction book, but for the present this Appendix is being issued separately. When the complete new book is published the necessary deletions of old matter will, of course, be made. We have felt that since the extensive electrical equip- ment now on the car is a new venture which will undoubtedly demand care and attention on the part of the owner or driver, we should do all we can in the way of descriptions and instructions to en- sure that the attention it receives is guided and trained as far as possible, and for this reason it appears desirable not to attempt to cut down this Appendix too much. We ought to be sure that we have covered the ground adequately, at the same time doing all we can to render these instructions convenient for use. Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} [Signature] | ||
