RE VACUUM OIL CO. LTD.

RECEIVED

With reference to Mr. Whitehead's note with regard to the Vacuum Oil Co. no one belonging to our company must give any opinion officially about any brand of oil without the consent of Mr. Claude or myself.

We cannot say anything to Vacuum's recommendation except one could advise them which of the oils supplied by them is the best adapted for our car engines. To do this it will be necessary for them to send Derby, say, two or three samples (say 40 gallon barrels) of what they recommend of their supplies, which is likely to prove equal or superior to Price's Motorine "B" and "C", or Wakefields' Castrol, for our engines. Will they also inform us before doing so, if the oil they propose to send is a pure mineral oil or a compound oil, and if the latter, the percentage of mineral to other oil or oils.

R.{Sir Henry Royce}
