contd:- -2- considerably reduce the wear. With regard to the suggestion of using cast iron drum liners. We do not believe this idea will be accepted by R.{Sir Henry Royce} We do not believe they are necessary. We also consider it is very doubtful whether they could ever be made practicable. From experimental information we admit that there are 2 weakness on the present 20 HP. brakes :- (1) Squeaking. (2) Excessive wear on the drums. No.2. will be greatly reduced by using different material for the drums which has already been adopted. No.1. is being worked on continuously and we have no doubt we shall arrive at a satisfactory solution very soon. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
