Corrosion on a Phantom's carburetter aluminium air valve, suggesting a switch to silicon alloy or reverting to a brass type.

On the Phantom which is being used at WW. R.{Sir Henry Royce} found the alum. air valve corroded. The corrosion was sufficient to interfere with the functioning of the carburetter.

It appears that some alloy of aluminium should be used for this valve, such as the silicon alloy, which is not so subject to corrosion.

R.{Sir Henry Royce} thinks we may have to revert to the brass type. You have a design for a light valve made in brass, and we believe it was tested at the same time as the alum. valve.
