Failed attempt to fit an anti-rattle device to a Bentley and Phantom III steering column.

ANTI RATTLE DEVICE. With reference to BY/NS.{Norman Scott}6/G.12.11.38, we have attempted to fit this device to a Bentley steering column, but have failed due to the collar and top base being brazed on to the tube. I understand that on later cars these parts are soft soldered on to the tube, but as there will be numerous cars with the parts brazed on, the scheme does not seem to be a practical job.
