B.U. C. to HCR. C. to LNS. C. to E.H. X3441 EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/T19/F22.7.19. RE. CROSS STEERING TUBES. We should like to have a reply to our memo. EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/T7/F4.7.19 as soon as possible, especially with regard to the second paragraph, which read as follows :- "We take it, therefore, that in cases where the "whirlwind" inspection has been made we should carry out our promise and send along our Fitter to fit the new type cross steering tube". We withdrew our Fitters for the annual holiday, and now have only men out changing tubes where actual appointments have been made with customers for this change to be made. It is, of course, understood that in all cases where the "whirlwind" inspection has been carried out, customers have been promised that new cross steering tubes will be sent to them, and that we shall send a man to fit them. As pointed out in our previous memo., we have carried out the "whirlwind" inspection on 705 cars, and changed 203 cross steering tubes, leaving 502 tubes to be changed. T. | ||
