SPECIFICATION OF PRODUCTION INSPECTION,
ADJUSTMENT & TEST.

(1) The cover of the distribution box shall be removed and the following details inspected :-

(a) The cutout lever for freedom of motion, i.e. without any 'sticking' action; the cutout contact surfaces for correct alignment; and the contact bow spring for suitable tension.
Also the cutout contact surfaces for a definite rubbing action between the points after making and before breaking.
When the platinum points are just making contact, the gap between the armature stop and the magnet pole face should not be less than .012". If it is, the fixed contact point should be raised the required amount.

(b) All the fuse holder clips for satisfactory grip of the fuse holders.

(c) The fuses for correct sizes and for being satisfactorily gripped in the fasteners. As regards fuse wire sizes these are 30 SWG. copper wire, except the main battery fuse which should be three strands of this, and the dynamo field fuse which is of the cartridge type.

(2) It shall now be ascertained that the insulation of the fixed contact point to the base of the cutout is O.K. by applying an alternating voltage of 200 through a 200 volt low c.p. lamp between these points.

(3) The distribution box shall then be connected up by low resistance wires to an RR. EAC. dynamo, a 12 volt battery of suitable capacity, two ammeters A and B, and a voltmeter V, according to diagram herewith.

(4) The distribution box being in a cold condition, the dynamo shall be driven at gradually increasing speeds
