To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} X1334 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}9/LG27.6.24. X215 X1334 We think it is right that we should point out that when Springfield recommended we should use rivetting over bolts, they pointed out several instances on the car where we are using grover washers and at the same time rivetting the bolts. One instance is the axle tubes. An objection we have against rivetting bolts is that the amount of bolt standing through the nut when it is tightened up, varies appreciably on frame fittings. This makes it difficult to make a reliable and neat rivetting job especially with the material which we use for our bolts. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
