MATTERS FOR CONSIDERATION IN RELEASING THE 1st 100 CHASSIS MATERIAL.

(1) FRAMES & FITTINGS.

We cannot release the front and rear engine mounting, the rearmost body brackets, and the threaded shackles for 100 Cars.

For six cars we gave released the front mounting to LeC.5057, the rear mounting to GCD.113, and the threaded shackles to FCD73.

If it is any help to the Factory to go ahead with the frames in spite of the parts which are held up, we have no objection, but it would seem to us to be likely to complicate manufacturing.

(2) REAR ROAD SPRINGS.

The six cars are to go ahead as the 10,000 mile car. For production, however, we are contemplating putting a silent block bush in the front anchorage of the spring to LeC.5617. Obviously we want some test running before we can release this. We should, therefore, like to hold this up and the road spring to FH.1055 for the first 100 cars.

(3) STEERING COLUMN & BOX.

What we have released for the first six cars is briefly - the steering as fitted to the 10,000 mile car with modifications which include, a shortened rocker shaft giving increased clearance to the crankcase F.C.D.79.; lugs on the bottom to permit of the ball withdrawal F.C.D.98, and a stiffened flange on the bottom to prevent oil leaks. F.C.D.94.

We have not run these modified pieces, and, therefore, it would not appear a good policy to manufacture 100 sets, particularly as the ignition control is going to be removed from a column before it goes in production.

(4) SIDE STEERING STEERING TUBE.

N.Sch.5113 & 5105. Six off only.
