6115. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/NRC.{N. R. Chandler} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}8/R.14.6.38. We should like you to make a complete study of the present windscreen wiper situation throughout the motor-car industry in the World. In particular, we want to know what success has been achieved with the mechanical wiper as fitted to the Vauxhall. M.A. Smiths of Cricklewood are developing a special drive for this kind of wiper, and we believe that you should contact Nichols in this respect. Vacuum wipers are fitted universally in America and the manifold depression is supplemented by a vacuum pump which is usually part of the fuel pump. The electrical system which we fit appears to be heavy, costly and not too reliable. In any new wiper which we adopt we hope to get the depth of the scuttle rail rods. We should be glad if you would bear this in mind as being a primary objective. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Now on Chassis. | ||
