We thank you for C3/C13.12.24.

If you will kindly let us know when the frame is at Hoopers EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} will call round just to explain the method of fitting the body and the details of construction.

With reference to the points mentioned in your letter to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} we understood when last we saw Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} that no chassis would be sent to the coachbuilders at first. The dashboard will be that of the sports model EAC.2. The shape of the dashboard will be given to the coachbuilder by a sheet metal scuttle armature which is part of the underframe. This wider dash is essential to the underframe. The actual chassis to which this body will be fitted eventually will be one of 'W' series.

If Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} could arrange to fit a standard 40/50 with a wider and higher dashboard like EAC.2. and send this to the coachbuilders it would enable them to fit up the wings and valances complete. Of course they would not need this chassis for several weeks after the receipt of the underframe. We like this suggestion ourselves because we would very much like this car to be painted by the Enamelcar Co., of 'Vitcote' specialities, and they would need a complete car. When the job is finished the chassis can be changed at Derby. It will be realised that with the underframe constructions the changing of bodies will be facilitated.

With reference to the painting with pyroxylin enamel we are of the opinion that the Enamelcar Co. are by far the best people in this country, and chiefly because they are the only people we know who are able to provide a proper filling for the body, it being understood that this enamel cannot be used over ordinary lead fillers. We believe we have told you already that the cost of painting one of these cars would be approx. £60. The car should be sent to them in the bare stage, having had no paint on it at all. It will be necessary to explain this to Hoopers. When in London we will discuss this in detail.
