Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited,
DERBY.

For attention of Lt. Col. Fell, D.S.O., O.B.E.

Gentlemen,

CONTRACT T.555.
20/25 H.P. ENGINE.
Lubricating System.

An instance has occurred where a Light Tank became ditched with its nose downwards at an angle of approximately 30°.

Whilst endeavouring to unditch itself, approximately 2½ gallons of oil was found on the floor of the hull. On investigation this oil was found to have leaked from the ¼ inch hole situated at the bottom of the flywheel casing.

Reference to Drawing E.59479 would indicate that there is no definite oil seal at the flywheel end.

I should be glad of your early remarks.

I am, Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,

(Signed) E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} B. POWCROFT,

for CHIEF INSPECTOR OF ARMAMENTS.
