Dear Sirs,

We are experiencing rather a lot of trouble with the valve gear on the Stutz car, and wonder if you could enlighten us in any way.

The valve tappet adjustment will not remain locked for any length of time, allowing the valve clearance to decrease to nothing, and still further, preventing the valves from closing at all.

The valve caps have been locked up to their valve pistons as tightly as is possible without stripping the threads on the valves, but still they work loose after very little running.

We should be much obliged if you could supply us with any information on this point, or furnish us with the remedy; we should not imagine that this defect is common to all Stutz cars, probably there is a special way of locking up the adjustment of which we do not know?

Yours truly,
