This column is for Name of Person addressed. DATE. -2- Derby and it now appears that it was not sent; Mr Spinney retained both the original and also his copy in his file by mistake. The experiments suggested will now be put in hand immediately, for the purpose of discovering the cause of these failures. We hope to finish these experiments today and we can then decide whether the best plan will be to change all the fibre bushes for bronze ones, having the increased clearance recently recommended by Mr Royce. Mr Royce's instructions concerning the large amount of clearance in spring shackles should overcome the difficulty. I will advise you as soon as we obtain the information we require.
