Experimental use of nitrate steel for water pump shafts and brake drums.

This appears to be one point where this steel might be used beneficially almost at once. The other point where we are in trouble is brake drums. We have several linings which have better wearing qualities than our present, but we cannot use them because they score the drums. As soon as we can get the other pieces which have already been ordered in nitrate steel, we think brake drums should be considered because brake squeaks due to scored drums are one of the most fruitful sources of complaint.
