Dear Mr. Campbell,

Thank you for your letter of the 19th. December; I am glad to hear that you are continuing to take an interest in our problems and I am looking forward to seeing you with the answers.

I am enclosing a print of a piece of design with which are being continually confronted.

This is a duralumin tube which we wish to fix securely in an aluminium housing. We have given you the torque which the tube has to withstand and one suggested way of dealing with the problem.

If you could do some experiments and find out the best way to handle the problem we believe that the result would find general application throughout the post-war automobile.

Yours sincerely,

Dictated but not read
