Ref. 1207a J. {Mr Johnson W.M.} & E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} HALL, LTD BIRMINGHAM No. 2 Sheet. Date. 12/7/34. Messrs. Rolls Royce, Ltd. amount of difficulties which do arise in the operation of machines on this principle they feel that it would not be in the general interest to put forward a plant on this system. They also state that it would be extremely difficult to estimate the cost of such a plant, and as it would be made specially and any price charged would have to bear the cost of special patterns, drawings, etc., they do not consider that the capacity required warrants the great expense which would be involved. We would point out that we have already put forward for your consideration a plant which is capable of dealing with 150 cubic feet of air per minute, and at this duty the compound ammonia compressor would be running at a comparatively low speed. There would be no difficulty at all in speeding the machine up and in-creasing the size of the condenser and the cooler to give you 200 cubic feet of air per minute. We are of the opinion that the cost of this plant, as put forward in our Scheme 2, would be very considerably less than any plant which we might suggest on the cold air system. As you know, we have put forward a proposal to | ||
