-9- clutches is entirely wrong and should be discouraged as much as possible as it brings about the above result. Complaints of fan noise. These were caused by the breaking away of the rivets in the fan pulley and were replaced by bolts. 58-LF. 67-KR. 17-KR. 98-FH. 100-CL. 61-CL. Exhaust blow from cutout. 58-GY. 17-KR. 134-XJ. 169-XJ. This trouble arises from the pushing back of the silencer due to the cross binding effect of the sliding joint. The pushing back of the silencer shortens the control rod of the cutout which brings the foot operated lever on to the end of the bracket and so prevents the cutout from closing. This trouble was recently experienced with the 25 HP. silencer and sliding joint during the 10,000 mile test. A new design was made to overcome the trouble and is now standard. This design should be incorporated on the Phantom II. To deal with those already in service a stay and bracket should be made to prevent the pushing back of the silencer, also care must be taken of the front expansion box or else this will cause trouble in fouling the spring shackle. Steering Column control rattled and knock in steering box. 157-XJ. The knock in the steering box was cured by filling the box with oil. When the car came in it was only | ||
