Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWHL/MJ3.11.30 contd. -10- half full, the oil had apparently leaked out by way of the rocker shaft bearing. The knock was produced by a slight slackness in the trunnion bearing which was damped out by the oil. The rattles from the controls were cured by the fitting of a new felt washer. My attention was drawn to the inaccessibility of the hole provided for oiling the controls. With this placed more accessible the oil would act as a damper and no complaints should arise. Instrument patch, glass cracked. 52-XJ. 88-XJ. I would suggest that tests be carried out to see whether it is possible to stick two block patches on to a plain glass to replace the failures of the above. This would remedy recurrent failures if successful. Complaint of creak from O.S. front spring, shackle. 128-GN. This was found to be due to solder running into the pipe when sweating the banjo on, stopping up the supply of oil to the shackle. Steering wobbles. 43-WJ. This was found to be due to the owner having filled the inner tubes with non-puncturable liquid causing the wheels to be out of balance. This was taken up with the owner. | ||
