Battery ignition tungsten contact points
off L.H. chassis 24 EX.
These points have been examined by us in the lab. after completing 15000 miles running. Their condition we considered to be, relative to the average result we obtain, very good. There was a marked absence of oxidation on the screw point, both point surfaces being even and grey similar to the condition of the Delco-Remy points we have run. The complete distributor was fitted to our bench rig and run for 50 hours, and the good condition of the points was maintained. We have measured the load on the points and find this to be std but the condenser capacity is very low .23 mf at 20°C (lowest production limit .275 at 18°C). We are investigating still further on another distributor in an endeavour to reproduce this good result.
