---------------

(5) INSTRUMENT BOARD. X.1362. X.4163. X.3563. X.3565.

The instrument board can now be relieved of two fittings by the R.R. combined switchboard, and there being no need of thermometer with the thermostat. I am sending a drawing that shows how we ought to rearrange the instruments.

X.4152. x4293a In 6.EX the windscreen and instrument board are a few inches too near the driver. The drawing mentioned will shew that we think the best dimensions and position for "D" steering, partly arranged during PN{Mr Northey}'s last visit.

The knees of a very tall man, say, Mr. Northey should not go under the board. The further the board is back in "D" steering the high it should be from the floor. The top of the steering wheel should have 3" plus 1/4" tolerance from the windscreen. The bottom of the instruments board should be at least 20" from the floor. The instrument board should be 20" from front of back of seat - again refer to LeC.drawing 1254.
