RECORDS AT BROOKLANDS.

The Brooklands Automobile Racing Club yesterday announced the official figures for the ride by Mr. R.{Sir Henry Royce} S. Witchell, who, on a 20-16 h.p. Straker-Squire, established fresh times for the flying kilomètre and flying mile in the 21-rating class. Mr. Witchell's figures were:

Time. Speed.
Flying kilomètre ...... 23.14sec. ...... 99.61 miles per hour.
Flying mile ...... 37.66sec. ...... 95.54 miles per hour.

Mr. Witchell also made an attempt on the half-mile flying record, his time being 18.54sec., which gives a speed of 97.09 miles per hour. This was barely one second outside the record, and he was awarded a certificate for the performance.

The official figures of a remarkably fine performance accomplished by S. Wright on a twin-cylinder Humber at Brooklands were also announced yesterday. In Class B Wright lowered the previous record figures for 50 miles, 100 miles, one hour, and two hours, and in each case his figures were considerably better than the former records. For instance, over 50 miles Wright was nearly four minutes inside the old time, whilst his journey in two hours was nearly 14 miles better than the previous record. The new and old figures are:
