To RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}, X1300 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}18/KW.6.9.35. SpectreCodename for Phantom III Steering. As you have probably heard, Hancock reports that the SpectreCodename for Phantom III steering fitted to 21-G-IV in France is exceedingly bad. We are proposing to use this car to develop the SpectreCodename for Phantom III steering. We really can only test steerings for road shocks in France. The advantage of using 21-G-IV is that we can take the steering in and out of the car easily; also it will not interfere with other SpectreCodename for Phantom III tests. Attached is a specification of the tests we want to carry out in France. The parts which have to be supplied by the Adamant Engineering Co. and the Timken Co. are tabulated in a separate list. We are making sure that we get these parts with the minimum of delay. The steering is now one of the few outstanding complaints on the SpectreCodename for Phantom III, and we shall therefore be glad if you will give this your consideration.
