IGNITION VOLTAGE MEASUREMENTS.

For measuring the high voltages on ignition coils, magnetos and sparking plugs under pressure we have been using an apparatus designed and made up ourselves consisting of a high tension rectifying valve, condenser and a calibrated sphere-gap voltmeter.

This apparatus in working order functions equally as well for our purposes as an expensive electrostatic H.T. voltmeter which would cost £20-0-0d.

The trouble with the existing apparatus we have is that the valve which we use is totally unsuitable.

This valve, an Osram U3, was originally obtained for insulation testing and is only designed for a voltage of 5000 whereas we wish to measure voltages on coils of the order of 10,000.

We have made enquiries and have found a valve which will do what we require. This valve is an Osram E.H.T.2 and will stand voltages up to 20,000 without breakdown and would suit us admirably for any test we should wish to make either for insulation or for H.T. measurements.

The price of this valve is £6-6-0d. less 25% and we should like to know if we have your agreement to the purchasing of the same.

Agreed
