Re: Low Pressure Tyres.

We are constantly receiving applications from existing Owners of 'Phantom' Chassis, for Balloon Tyres.

We are unable, as you know, to take back their High Pressure type wheels with rims for S/S. Tyres - and the charge to the Customer for supplying an entirely new set of wheels and tyres is very heavy - i.e. approximately £57-4-0.

Our inability to do this in instances where we have only recently delivered Chassis with High Pressure Tyres, places us in rather a delicate position.

We notice in the Dunlop list there is a Balloon S/S. type Tyre displacing High Pressure Tyres on existing rims. The description of the Tyre which will go on to a 33 x 5 S/S. rim being 35 x 6.60.R.

We should very much like to know whether the Technical Committee at W. see any objection to our suggesting to Clients such as those referred to above, that they should replace their High Pressure Tyres by these 33 x 6.60.R. Balloon Tyres. This would give them what they want in the way of Balloon Tyres and overcome our difficulty.

We do know that a few Customers have done this on their own account - presumably with satisfactory results.

If you agree that the above could be done, presumably it would be necessary to tell Customers they ought to have Hydraulic Shock Absorbers to the front because we have always understood that these fittings must be considered part and parcel of the fitting of the equipment of Balloon Tyres on 'Phantom' Chassis.
