To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} RG.{Mr Rowledge} } FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to BJ. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X3824 R1/M19.8.26. HIGH M.E.P. RAMMING ETC. X.3824 X.2480 X.2431 X.3828 Assuming a 2 1/2" bore induction pipe, and assuming 2,250 revs., what is the correct ramming length? Proceed by taking a group of 3 cylinders, or a single cylinder, supply the carburetter with slow speed air up to the entrance to the throat, then find the best length between this point and the cylinder to give the best M.E.P. or best compression pressure, possibly varying the time of closing the inlet for each length of pipe. What the foregoing should tell us is the distance (mean average) or the overall length of the full speed induction path with four carbureters. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
