X 4286 To Da. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} c. Da {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} /Thr. c. Ey. c. EP. {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 1/T22.11.20. X.2512 - CONDENSER COVER. X4286 We have received complaints from the Test Dept. that it sometimes happens in taking off and replacing the condenser that the bolts come against and chafe the condenser plates. It is, therefore, suggested that the condenser cover be provided with bosses from the top to the bottom through which the holes for the bolts may be drilled all the way, so that the cover is better guided into position without the possibility of the bolts chafing the sides of the condenser. Would you kindly consider what might be done in this respect. We appreciate that there is not much room and that it may possibly involve increasing the radius at the corners of the condenser where the mica is cut away, in the vicinity of the bolts. We think it likely that there is still sufficient room in the condenser cover so that any resulting loss of capacity due to reduction of tin-foil area can be made up by the addition of a few more plates than at present.
