3½ litre Bentley Chassis.

With further reference to E.5/HP.28.9.33 and Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}6/T.4.10.33, a meeting of Ms. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Sft.{Mr Swift} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} was held to discuss the position of incompletesections on the Bentley production, and to see what further recommendations could be put forward, having regard to the testing experienced accumulated since the date of the last report, and to cover those sections which were definitely held up pending a further decision.

The sections are as follows, numbered as in the previous two memos abovementioned, for the sake of clearness.

(1) Sec. 5000. Crankcase and Bearings.

We recommend immediate alteration to the patterns so that bolts can be used when required in the centre main bearing in place of studs, this alteration to be made along with the other pattern modifications that are going through for the starter motor housing. The production however should be limited to 50 in accordance with Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}6/T.4.10.33.

(2) Sec. 5010. Crankshaft.

We now recommend going ahead with 200 sets of two stud balance weight crankshafts.

(3) Sec.5040. Piston.

These are going hand to mouth as per agreement with Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} and Sft.{Mr Swift} so as not to delay the Bentleys promised for this year. We propose however to revert to the original heat-treatment and to reduce the interference on the gudgeon pin fit.

(8) Sec.5160. Water Pump.

We recommend instructing 200 sets as pattern has now been altered to remove boss for bypass. There will be
