Mr. Fedden's Car - Chassis B-189-AE.

You will have received a copy of Fedden's letter of the 4th February.

In view of the recurrence of wheel wobble on his car we have no alternative but to tell him to remove the cycle type wings. This will deal with both the complaints of wheel wobble and brake squeaks.

The position really is that the three serious complaints which Fedden has made about his car, i.e., brake squeaks, wheel wobble and headlamp movement, are due to two non-standard features fitted to his car: the first, cycle type wings, and the second, higher shock absorber loading. We have explained this to Fedden, but as he does not want to remove the cycle type wings he is trying to make out that brake squeaks are a feature of the ordinary Bentley. As you will see from the attached list which he gave me on my last visit, his other remarks about the chassis are trivial.

We admit that when Fedden was at the Works we showed him our streamlined car and told him of the advantages to be gained by the cycle type wings but did not tell him the disadvantages, at the time we did not know them.

Under the circumstances we are proposing to send him the attached letter unless you disagree.
