To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} X354 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}19/KW.18.11.35. Phantom III. Will you please fit the tappet holding off scheme to LeC.4675 on No.3 unit which came out of No. 1 chassis. The detail drawing of the tappet E.87485 shews it to be chrome plated. This plating should be deleted, the tappet in S/ZN being normally hardened by the cloudburst process. In conjunction with this scheme a new standard camshaft should be fitted to Ex.18044. The new cylinder heads complete with tappets to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}9/KW.25.10.35. should also be fitted. As we shall want to carry out tests at high speeds will you please see if the bearings are in fairly good condition. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/L.H.Swindall. | ||
