Further to our conversation on this subject, we are exceedingly anxious to get the scheme produced by Hardy detailed and manufactured. The scheme that you have done for us and is now fitted to 3-B-IV accomplishes its object in that it eliminates gear lever noise, but with the existing bearing for the lever shaft it tends to cross-wind and makes changing gear difficult. Hdy.{William Hardy} has suggested a ball bearing for this lever to slide on. We think it would be worth while fitting up such a bearing on this scheme if it is possible, so that should Hardy's scheme fail to have sufficient flexibility to eliminate the noise, we shall be able to show him that the scheme we have been trying is a practical possibility.
