BT.{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer} [struck through] c to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/SB{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister}5/HR.22.1.35. Dictated 21.1.35. re CHASSIS NO. B.171-AE. Captain E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Burt. ---------- We send you herewith a Ransome & Marles rear axle thrust race removed from the above car. This race is of the modified type similar to those fitted to several hundreds of Bentleys and it was fitted by Kingsbury in September 1934. (See Kingsbury's report No. 67.) Presumably the failure is due to the ball cage having having disintegrated and we believe that the same trouble has occured on one or two other races. Paris reported one quite recently to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} We shall be glad to have your remarks in connection with the failure. The mileage run by this race is only just over 2,000.
