CONTINUATION SHEET No. 1 FROM SHELL-MEX AND B.P. LIMITED. TO. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Hives, Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. DATE 31st July 1934. I have no idea what tooth pressures are to be encountered in any of your own mechanisms, and if you could let me have this information I could then give you a accurate idea of how the E.P.Lubricant we have been experimenting with will behave. If, after this, you think it would be worth while making some running tests we shall be very pleased to send you along a supply of our E.P.Lubricant. On the other hand, if you do not think that we have yet gone far enough to warrant your carrying out tests we shall be very glad to arrange with some of the ball and roller bearing makers to carry out laboratory tests in connection with corrosion, and if we do this I shall be very grateful to you for any suggestions you can make as to the conditions we should try to reproduce. Before we do anything of this sort, however, it appears to be of considerable importance to us to know the maximum tooth pressures to which the E.P.Lubricant will be subjected in use. As there is really very little demand at present for E.P.Lubricants we are not seriously contemplating marketing them, but we should most certainly take steps to make any product of this sort which met with your approval available to motorists all over the world. Yours sincerely, L.G. Cweint [Handwritten Note] GRY{Shadwell Grylls} Please have them - Figures | ||
