- 7 - HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/RH.{R. Hollingworth}1/VS.{J. Vickers}21.5.37 Propeller Shaft (Continued). The lockplate for the serrated but at the sliding end of the tube, was held in place by a 1.BA. nut on a 2 BA. stud and was also without a spring washer. The serrated nut, itself, was loose. The damper flywheels, G.56940/1 in I/C. were in good condition, the surfaces being smooth and free from tarnish or corrosion. BZ/PC Flanged Hub, G.56942 in M.M.Sect. material, also in good condition with no signs of picking-up. The Front Road Springs LOP.FB.993. were in good condition, being well supplied with oil and free from rust. The Rear Road Springs LOP.FB.994. O.S. in good condition and well supplied with oil, but N.S. was dry and most of the leaves were covered with rust. The oil pipe to the rear N.S. bottom damper ball-pin was broken. See chart for wear on shackle-pins. Rear Shock Dampers LOP.FB.1339. These were in good condition and wear was normal. No leaks were detected from the glands. Front Shock Dampers LOP.FB.1340. In good condition, no leaks and normal wear. Anchorage for Front Axle Control Damper LOP.FB.2690. Top ball pins and pads rather deeply scored. Bottom bushes and spindles in good condition, lubrication (originally modified to suit "Girling" brakes) adequate. Steering Column and Box LOP.FB.239. F.S.4800.
