Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}/SM11/L21013. Re Spring on Foot-Pedal for Double Rear Brakes. X.2 R.{Sir Henry Royce} 2-10-13. There is apparently some difference of opinion between Mr Platford, the Exp. Shop and Mr Bailey. Mr Platford is of the opinion that Mr Royce does not desire this spring, but Mr Bailey says that it was placed on the drawing to Mr Royce's instructions. We shall be glad if Mr Royce will state his wish in the matter. Mr Bailey states that until the last few days he heard no objection urged against this spring, and acting on the silence of the Experimental Dept. he instructed this part for series 2700. Mr Haldenby states :- The reason for objecting to fitting the spring on foot brake is because "I find it quite unnecessary. The brake requires too much power to apply it when the spring is fitted. Springs inside the brake and those on the axle are quite sufficient to do all that is necessary." p. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} | ||
