PHANTOM III OIL COOLER FATIGUE TESTS.

(1) Test on original R.R. made cooler Failed after 297) pulsations
(2) Test on Marston P type cooler (10.1.38) Failed after 7000 pulsations.
(3) Test on Marston P type cooler (29.4.38) Failed after 21,150 "
(4) Test on Marston P type cooler (second one 29.4.38.) Failed after 19,400

Note. In each of the above tests, a pulsation consisted of raising internal pressure of cooler to 200 lbs.sq.in. and then letting it down to atmospheric pressure, and by means of a shock absorber (175 pulsations/minute).

Further test on Marston P type cooler as above but using internal pressure of 100 lbs.sq.in - failed after 100,300 pulsations.
