Y128D Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Std.9/KW. 7th March, 1936. Messrs. Clayton Dewandre Ltd., Titanic Works, LINCOLN. For the attention of Mr. S.E. Willet. Dear Sirs, Replying to your letter of the 6th inst., we regret that a misunderstanding has occurred. We should have said that the results of your tests indicate a marked superiority on the part of the Mark VI type of block, i.e., both the Harrison core and the Marston Mark VI core give better dissipations throughout the speed range compared with the Mark V or Gallay blocks. It is the difference between the two types of block - Mark VI and Mark V - which does not agree with our information from the Harrison radiator Corporation. We quite agree that the English version - the Marston Mark VI core - is not as good as the American Version; i.e., the Harrison core. We shall therefore despatch the new Mark V core to you as indicated in our last letter. It might interest you to hear that we checked up some of your test figures against test figures obtained on identical matrices on Messrs. John Marston's test plant, and they agreed, within a 1% error. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
