-4- Contd. utilise one which gave more protection to the system without the possibility of occasional failure for no good reason. Returning to the green lamp switch unit, admittedly it simplifies connections to have only three terminals to such a unit. We suggest for consideration the possibility of having a common negative earthed terminal and putting the green lamp itself on the positive side of the switch, the green lamp supply being taken either from No.7 on the distribution board or from the ammeter side of the main battery fuse. This might also have the advantage of being a little simpler in the wiring in that the wire from the supply to the lamp would be comparatively short. Also in the event of an earth on the wire leading to the green lamp switch, or on the green lamp switch itself, the lamp would be permanently lit and indicate the fact. To us this suggestion appears attractive. It will be noted that in the case of the Klaxon we do this on both chassis for the convenience of being able to run only one wire up the steering column to the Klaxon switch button, i.e. the Klaxon itself is on the positive side of the switch in the circuit. All these detail matters of exact connections of the dynamo, cutout, battery, etc., system are somewhat difficult and we have given a considerable amount of thought to arrive at what appears to be the most right. Even then, we have found that we can return again and again to their consideration and still be not quite sure that what may have been previously thought the most right is still the most | ||
