IGNITION. X9750 X9960

It is proposed that this shall be carried out in accordance with my memo. R3/M.6.24., with the addition of an insulated terminal on the ignition tower, to which the low tension wire is to be transferred in the unusual case of it being desired to run on magneto only without charging the battery, every other provision being provided by the direct switching.

It will be understood that the EAC. engine, both now, and when modified, is intended to run on the double ignition always, to reduce the risk of detonations, to increase the economy of fuel, and the switching arrangement proposed gives the maximum reliability, with the greatest simplicity possible.

The fact that the charging switch is combined with the ignition switch, and that the combined switch is capable of being locked with the lighting switch, makes it nearly impossible to provide any other switching arrangements than those given. Anything further would be unnecessarily complicated, less reliable, and more difficult to understand in the case of a fault occurring.
