patched up but do not know whether the repair will be permanent or not. The mileage recording part of the speedometer has broken down and we find that this part of the instrument is of very poor design. If you take one to pieces you will see that alteration must be made to ensure its reliability. Our trouble is that the worm which is attached to the top of the revolving magnet has come adrift and when you see how it is attached you will not be surprised. The spring shackles of the front spring are very slack and we are today taking up the end play. We also find considerable wear on the bushes and pins. One bush is worn right through and we are replacing it by one from a broken spring. It is the rear end bush of the near side spring. These shackles have been very well greased every 1000 miles and also protected by leather covers which were full of grease.
