A very happy new year to you. Geoffrey Summers passed on your letter to him and I should like to say at once that I think it was very good of you to take the trouble to answer the suggestion of a layman like myself when your time must be fully occupied. The idea of a multiple cylinder engine on the basis of the Douglas Flat Twin water cycle engine has interested me for years, but it is only recently that I thought of its advantage if put into the wings of airplanes as opposed to the more generally used radial engine.
