Dear Fedden, Thank you for your letter of the 20th November. We have, as you probably know, a high compression cylinder head which has been fitted to several customers' cars, more particularly to those people who wanted additional performance. Personally I like this cylinder head, but there is no doubt that to avoid frequent decarbonisation a good grade of fuel has to be used. The Ethyl at present on the market is suitable for the first 3,000 miles; after that DTD-224 can with advantage be used. The cost of the high compression head is about £30. You do not say anything about the axle ratio. Personally I feel that for English conditions you would be happier with the 5% lower ratio. Yours sincerely, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
