JOHN STANLEY ORME
of Chain Lane, Littleover.

"I am employed by Rolls-Royce Limited, in their Experimental Department.
I went to Windermere as an Assistant Tester to Halliwell on Wednesday, 4th June.
From June 4th to 11th, I was assisting Halliwell in examining the engines after each run. No trouble of any kind was experienced from the engines.
During the whole of my stay, Sir Henry expressed nothing but satisfaction with the engine performances after each run, in fact, he said to me and to others in my hearing that the engines installed were the finest engines that he had ever known.
On the last test run previous to the disaster, he came up to me - patted me on the back, and said "Those engines are fine". He was very excited and pleased.
On 12th June, I went to Derby and returned to Windermere on 13th June, arriving just before the boat started. I helped Green to refill with oil and petrol.
When the boat was in the water, I helped Halliwell to prime the engines.
