To Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} from EFC. c. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} BY/RD. X8672 EFC3/T9.6.27. We shall have ready on Monday next a 28 slot armature for the Phantom dynamo. We should be pleased if you could let us have on that day a noisy standard machine to which we can fit this armature for a preliminary test by yourselves. The machine will be handed to you for this purpose as soon as it is completely ready. The idea is to have some evidence at the first opportunity of the quietening characteristics of this type of armature on the 40/50 as we already have in the case of the 20 HP. to justify the D.O. putting in hand say a dozen of these armatures for further experimental production test.
