FORM Nº 220. Anglo-American Oil Company, Limited. 36, Queen Anne's Gate, Westminster. London, S.W.1 TELEPHONE— VICTORIA 6325 (20 Lines) TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS— ADOPTION-PARL-LONDON. PLEASE QUOTE 47 Ref. DSP/FWB. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Hives, Esq., Experimental Department, Messrs. Rolls Royce, Ltd., Derby. Dear Mr. Hives: With reference to your letter of the 9th inst., I have duly warned our Stocks and Laboratory Departments concerning the Order for 150 gallons of 80 Octane Number fuel which you are sending. With regard to any prediction on the future quality of D.T.D.134 Spirit, this is the present situation: The Air Ministry have not yet informed us that they will definitely take 80 Octane Number fuel as their standard. They have, however, discussed tentatively with us the possibility of raising it above the present standard of 76. We had expected that a discussion would take place before the New Year and a final conclusion arrived at on this important point. So far as we personally are concerned, and I think the other major oil companies are in the same position, we are ready and willing to supply fuel up to 90 Octane Number at very short notice. I am keeping your letter before me so that when more reliable information is available we will pass it to you without delay. Yours faithfully, [Signature] Manager, Technical Department. | ||
