E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} was requested to rough out a scheme for use in the existing type of box for trial.

Item 9B not on agenda. Vacuum operated clutch.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} enquired regarding progress in the investigation of the possibilities of this device.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} reported that experimental work is in progress but no report can yet be issued as the tests are not completed.

AERO.

Item 10 on agenda. Run through outstanding points from Minutes of last meeting.

(a) Compression Ignition (item 10 of Minutes of May 31st)

Rg.{Mr Rowledge} reported that WW. had stopped work and Derby nearly so. Single cylinder engine still running.

Rg.{Mr Rowledge} stated that design was favouring the two stroke poppet valve type.

(b) Merlin (Item 13 of Minutes of May 31st)

Rg.{Mr Rowledge} has shewn designs to R.{Sir Henry Royce} and designs are still in Rg{Mr Rowledge}'s hands.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said "Keep on agenda".

Item 11 on agenda. New type blower Kestrel IV breakdown as per Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Fm8/11.7.32.

Rg.{Mr Rowledge} reported that modifications have been put through to correct the failure.

Item 12 on agenda. Standardisation sheet for slipping clutch spanners. says not proposed to include in kit. Discuss what we do intend to do.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said this tool should be in Base Tool Kit and not with each engine. Part of the equipment consists of a checking device for confirming the slipping load of the spanner.
