Item 7A Not on Agenda. P.II Carburetter.

New type P.II carburetters were discussed and it was decided to go slow on production in view of the improved results being obtained experimentally on the new R.R. expanding carburetter.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said he wished one or two of these carburetters to be used on town work and the results to be reported on.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} suggested that one be fitted to the car which he uses and one to the car used by LHS.{Lord Herbert Scott}

Item 8 on agenda. Servo thrumps Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid{A. J. Lidsey}/MJ26.6.32, and what we are proposing to do.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} asked what was being done about Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid{A. J. Lidsey}'s note.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said nothing was being done as no reply had been received. It was arranged that E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} would prepare a scheme as suggested and send it to R.{Sir Henry Royce}

Item 9 on agenda. Steering generally and Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/MA7.8.32.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} referred to a complaint he had recently received severely criticising our steering and asked Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} what work was in hand to improve steerings.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said that amongst other things a complete steering gear was being obtained from U.S.A. and which it is believed will give useful information.

Item 9A. Not on agenda. Quieter second gear.

Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} said that in view of the quieter third gears obtained with the synchro mesh boxes, it makes it appear necessary to take steps to obtain quieter running second speed gears.

As we do not know how to improve the silence of the straight tooth gears further, it becomes necessary to go to helical teeth for this purpose. This involves the second speed gears being in constant mesh and the use of dog clutches for engaging the gear.
