With reference to Pt1/FM18.1.28. We think your suggestion is interesting - its max disadvantages are :-
(1) Increased weight of two dash boards is rather a serious item.
(2) Loss of body space which we can hardly afford.
We think that louvred bonnets, good fitting floorboards and intelligent scuttle ventilation will deal with the over-heating problem.
With regard to scuttle jellying, bonnet rattles etc. We are firmly convinced that these troubles are largely the product of total isolation. Every time we experimentally test a car with total isolation we get into trouble, if we convert it into semi-isolation by putting rubber between the dash and armature we overcome these troubles.
In our experience semi-isolation, if properly carried out, actually improves the life of bodies.
At the moment we are conducting a campaign against total isolation.
