(4), this is made of very high grade firm felt about 1/2" long, and packed in between the valve stem and the washer, the washer having a cylindrical skirt for this purpose, the lower end of which overlays the top of the valve guide, when the valve is open.

With regard to item (5), this may appear superfluous for City traffic conditions, except that there is no doubt that with the American style of driving the engine is revved up very considerably on the lower ratios.

With these modifications they have now got the oil supply so much under control that they occasionally have valves freeze up due to being dry.

I arranged with Gordon who supplied the above information to hand blueprints of the Cadillac schemes to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}

It seems very strange that as we are licensees of Cadillacs in respect to the hydraulic tappet scheme we have not been informed of their latest developments.
